Experimental design: two group design (aka ab study) - 1 control group who drives without cell phones 1 experimental group that drives with them; Divide into 2 and observe the differences: multiple group design - 1 control group, multiple experimental groups (ex. hands free vs. non hands free, look at manufacturer, e. t. c. ) Factorial design: we want to look at all possible combinations when we have multiple independent variables, interaction effects - occur when the effect of 1 independent variable differs depending on the level of the variable. 4 experimental conditions for a 2x2 factorial design: No cell phone while driving in light traffic. Use cell phone while driving in light traffic.
