The ultimate causes of child and maternal health are poverty and inequality. Girl trained in a clinic to properly deliver babies safely. District hospital is 3 hours away. This is the most common cause of maternal death in. Infant mortality definition: deaths between the ages of 0 and 1 per 1,000 live births. Child mortality definition: deaths per 1000 children between the ages of 0 and 4. Major causes for child mortality: prematurity, pneumonia, intrapartum (while giving birth) complications. Different causes of death between the ages of 0 and 1 and 0 and 4 (infant vs. child) Kids (ages 0-5) die (globally) from hiv, diarrhea, malaria, measles, tetanus, pneumonia, infections and injuries globally.
