Alternative tourism (at): forms of tourism that are consistent with natural, social & community values & which allow both hosts. & guests to enjoy positive & worthwhile interaction & shared experiences. At began in late 1970s & early 1980s. Small-scale, low key & involved local population. Change in type of tourist - educate, tourists will have to adapt to how tourism is planned. Impacts resulting from a new set of activities. Anthro-tourism: visiting a cultural or religious site or region which is still used or practised by local population. Community (as opposed to individual) involvement everyone in community must agree. Agri-tourism: working on or visiting a farm or model farm. Make sure you aren"t displacing locally people. You are doing things that community wants. Nature tourism: variation of eco-tourism; tourism to natural. Cultural tourism: live in village; participate in daily activities. High degree of contact between hosts & guests. Can be part of mass tourism travel.
