Mix of both physical and human characteristics (culture, language, religion) and this gives a place an identity. Sense of place is the attachment that you have to a certain place. An area whose identities may change over time as human and physical geography changes. A recreational place that is the identity today in the 21st century. Before it was a homeland and spiritual place (pre 19th century) home to the first nations. It then became an agricultural place so identities change and this is not a smooth process. An area that may experience conflict as identities undergo change. Aboriginal versus non aboriginal or french versus english or newcomers versus old times or central powers versus decentralized powers. Different types of macro regions: the north, british columbia, the west, ontario, quebec, atlantic canada.
