One of the most important rituals is the celebration of the body -- in particular the king"s body. The most powerful image is the one where a king is looking at his portrait. It is no longer the leader"s body that becomes powerful, it is the image or the representation. It is the same mechanism of power when the leader looks at his own portrait. The image is imbued with the power of the leader. This is why it is sacrilege to burn the image of the leader. That"s why after fascists loose power, people tear down all the sites of remembrances that were imbued with that leader"s power. There are still people that revere president tito as a saint. Important to recognize the cult of personality the permeates our culture outside of historically fascist figures. One of the most important dates in yugoslavia is 25th of may, tito"s.
