Transport fluid primarily this us the lymph fluid: lymphatics return the tissue fluid and proteins back to the blood. It circulates in a one-way system, the fluid flows only towards the heart. Take part in the immune response: lymphatics protect from pathogens, including immune responses. Vessels collect tissue fluid from loose connective tissue. Carry the fluid towards the great veins of the neck. Once the tissue fluid is picked up by the lymphatic vessel it is no longer referred to as the tissue fluid but rather the lymph. Fibrous capsule: surrounding of the lymph node. Trabeculae: connective tissue divides the nodes from within. Lymph vessels: has both afferent (in) and efferent (out) lymphatic vessels bringing and taking out the lymph fluid.
