Important part of socialization of all mammals, learning behaviours from their mothers, primates do this more intensely. Humans we lost fur, non human primates have less body hair but it is their. Body hair is important for insulation, and isolation from heat, helps animals in terms of maintaining body temperature, brains are very temperature dependent. Tiny primates have very short pregnancies, brain size and pregnancy has a tight relationship. Gorillas have very long pregnancies but not as long as humans.
