Document Summary

For any one of the resources if demand does exceed the plant supply there will be competition for that soil resource. Whats the ability o soil to supply nutrients. Movement of nutrient to roots, the nutrient need to move to or move to the surface of the root. This movement can occur through bulk ow through soil water, di usion, plants can extend roots nutrients it will get. More surface area the roots the plant has the more. Nutrient uptake kinetics, how fast the nutrient get up through the roots. Interactions with soil biota, there are a lot of interactions where soil bacteria and fungi make soil resources available. Nutrients generally have a patchy distribution in the soil. A soil that has been homogenized ( tilled ) the patchiness will be less than in a natural environment. When nutrients are being added into the soil by fertilizer it will e ect it.
