Document Summary

It is the primary abiotic factor that resets plant communities, outside events that can reset communities. Some or all of plants in a community killed. Some disturbances driven by the live components of the ecosystem, Animals causing physical damage to the soil. Why is the likely hood that a plant between germination and scenesence will encounter a disturbance before it dies of old age. Disturbances that happen at a frequency over a plants life span, the average plants are never going to have to deal with them. Infrequent events might have di erent recovery techniques but disturbances that happen once every year of frequent the plants might have adaptations to deal with this type of things. Fire return intervals are between 50 and 200 years depending on ecosite type in the boreal forest. Intensity is the amount of biomass removed and the proportion of the plants in the community are going to die after the disturbance.
