Artifacts- portable objects made or altered by humans or human ancestors such as bone tools, pottery, arrow points. Features- items made or altered by humans that cannot be removed such as hearths, building foundations, stone circles. Not portable and can"t be moved in one piece. Ecofacts- organic materials associated with human activity, but not manufactured by people such as plant remains discarded as food waste, butchered animal remains. Discussion of the formation of archaeological sites and the preservation of cultural materials: items most likely to be preserved include electronics, chair frames, jewelry, concrete floor, plastic water bottles, notebook coils, teeth, bones, money. Items least likely to find is lunch, clothes, pencils, paper, skin, muscle, wood chairs. Usually if people have warning of leaving then the valuable objects will be taken with the people so archeologists will only find non-valuable objects.
