Why important? because it determines our method for analyzing environmental problems and constructing solutions , shapes how we conduct our lives. Morito argues dominant modern worldview promotes intellectual and emotional detachment from the environment. Environment is out there, a hostile force, a cost, something to be consumed, rarely something to be appreciated for what it is. Professional training can narrowly shape and channel our understanding making a broader appreciation of nature. He argues we use strive to become ecologically attuned, that is: Bringing capacities into acorn with the multiple modes of our relationship with the environment.
