Lower class have lack of legitimate opportunities to achieve middle-class success. Strain and frustration: > legitimate modes of adaptation, > illegitimate modes of adaptation. Accept the fact were suppose to get a good job and means (work really hard) The only one that is non deviant and majority of us are involved in. Reject goals (getting a good job) but accept the means (go to school, but don"t push hard) Lowering goals, just having a job, not the best jobs. Don"t break formal rules, but they are deviant. E. g. 40 years old, lives in mothers basement, manager at wendys doesn"t strive for more lowered goals to meet means available to him.
