Determines moral boundaries what it is about that person that makes them deviant sharpening the rules of deviant behaviour. Tests moral/normative boundaries (allows for change) deviant behaviour reflects so much that makes us want to change protests for social. Every once in a while people become selfish stop thinking about how to please society breaks the social order (a product of our differences) Cultural structure vs. opportunity a structure change.
