Argot: secrecy (meant to identify members and only for members) Establishes subculture relations (if called a goof/dirty in a prison= pedophile) Marijuana (cid:494)scavenger(cid:495) people that smoke other peoples weed (insult) Johnson et al. (cid:523)2006(cid:524). (cid:498)marijuana argot as subculture threads(cid:499) Boom, broccoli, spinach, charms, buds, ism, kale, tree . Secrecy: drugs are illegal have to find a way to get it very specific terminology for people on the outside and different terminology for people inside.
