The promise of science: 19th and 20th century. Reaction is deciding factor if something is deviant or not. When system itself is properly connected lower rates of deviance. When system not connected the social system becomes anomie. If you understand society on a large scale (machine multiple structures) how those parts relate to one another----social institutions. We create bonds together (cid:494)nothing brings a community together. Strong commitment to these values socialized the same (indigenous) Deviant behaviour in these societies indulging in self interest (selfish) In these societies everyone helps out if you breakout then you are showing than a problem. Forced american society to reconsider what the usa was doing. You will see deviant behaviour the moment people stop doing their responsibilities when the system becomes anomie. He can understand it from what society is doing vs. the individual. Protestants are more likely to commit suicide than catholics.
