Deviance stems from the act or person itself a quality of it. (cid:498)common sense (cid:498) approach we assume its funimentally true. Harmful, but not deviant (eating fast food, driving a car) Deviant, but not harmful (being rude, taking (cid:883)(cid:882) items through the (cid:494)express(cid:499) lane) Rare, but not deviant (acts of heroism, lottery) A characteristic of the act (or person) violates behavioural standards/ expectations. Too many inconsistencies when you ask detailed questions. Not an objective quality of the act/ person ect.
