Smaller-fewer amount of children, less likely to have delinquency. Larger-influence more delinquency and deviance, especially with males: divorce factor-used to be a big factor. No longer the case, unless the divorce is not amicable, and children are involved. Parental responsiveness-the extent to which parents are supportive of child"s needs and refers to parental support, warmth, love, etc. Parental demandingness-extent to which parents are demanding of appropriate behavior based on age. (eg: maturity demand) less demanding or too much can lead to delinquency and criminality. Authoritative: supportive and demanding-monitor and have clear standards of conduct for children, and appropriate for the age. Explain why it"s good or bad to engage in certain behaviour. Authoritarian: rejecting and demanding-obedience is valued over all else. More likely to produce aggressiveness because the mimic their parents. Indulgent: supportive and not demanding-don"t require mature behaviour, allow them self-regulation. Indifferent: rejecting and not demanding-neglectful in extreme cases.
