Document Summary
Victim offender reconciliation program nothing to do with the crime the victim has to be able to set a side wanting retribution. 90% of people don"t think its going to work, at any point in time they could stop the program and the perpetrator could go back to court. They ask the victim to tell their story first. Getting an answer after years can have serious impact on the victim (forgiveness) When people agree to this process they have to sign a paper that keeps the facilitated meeting private. About 130 cases from adult court every year, approx 25-30 of these cases do not have face to face meetings. In the last 6 years they have done 600 face to face meetings, who all thought it would not work, not a single one has gone back to court. For every 30 people that are trained for this job one is hired for the program.
