25% of oicers are women up from 14% in 2001. Minoriies: 5% aboriginal oicers, 9% are a visible minority. White males, resistant to allowing others to the force. Minoriies and women have proven to perform just as well as men. Police work: proacive, undercover, patrole, police ind crime on their own, reacive, when police respond to reports from the public, the majority of police work. Order maintanence: right vs wrong, most of police work, dealing with mundane things- traic, public peace, conlict between ciizens, 70-80% of oicer"s ime. Service: working with local organizaions, crowd control, schools, public relaions. Ideniicaion- through invesigaion idenify an ofender or drop the case. Etc: report- write up of report for records, court- plead guilty or not, oicer decides whether it is worth it to go to court if they plead not guilty. Must be 18, completed high school and have a driver"s license. Now recruiing university grads over college grads.
