Changes in one part of the system can impact other parts of the system. Plants compete in resources so that they can thrive and live. Compared it to the way that people move in and out of cities. Particular bands that expanded out (concentric zones) Business core, most expensive, b/c it is at the centre. Commerce, business and industry can afford to be here: transitional/transitory. Owners expected that they will be bought up. (cid:863) People who can afford it that have moved out of zone 2. (i. e. little italy: residential middle class area. Brighter than downtown, much better lit than zone 3. Want them to be better connected to each other.
