Lecture 9- general theories and the life course perspective. Socialist feminism argues in favour of a society free of gender and class stratification. Crime and deviance are the result of low self-control: impulsive, more self-centered, lack perspective. Life course research relies on longitudinal research designs. How do turning points function in the desistance process: example: marriage restructured routine activities desistance. Turning points are life stages into which adults enter at different points in their life. Desistance is the process by which someone stops committing crime.
