Personality disposiion over time: stability, change and coherence. Stability (over ime: rank order, mean level stability. Trait is stable but how it is expressed changes. Temperament: early diferences involved in behaviours re: emoionality/arousability. Block & block longitudinal study: assessed acivity level via actometer & teacher raings, acivity was relaively stable with more stability over shorter intervals. More stable over shorter periods over ime. Stability in childhood: bullying & problems later in life. At 14 yrs, 65% of bullies had felony convicions. Big 5 shows relaive stability in adulthood: especially > 50 yrs: but opened, extraversion, neuroicism decline slightly unil 50 yrs, agreeableness and conscienious slightly increase. Ambiion declined in a group of male managerial candidates. Results due to men becoming more realisic about limits in promoion. Divorced mothers, non-mothers & working mothers: all increased in independence, stay-at-home moms had no increase in independence. Cohort efect: personality change due to social imes of individuals.
