Document Summary

When we are seeing light we are seeing a stream of particles. Particles that are travelling in a straight line; he called these photons: james clerk maxwell. Came around 175 years later and said that light can be more productivity understood as a wave. There are two things that we can pick up in terms of light. Amplitude- related to the height of the wave. This corresponds to the brightness of the light (big amplitude, bright light): wavelength- the distance between one peak and another of the waves and is measured in nanometers (1/billionth of a meter) They are interpreted by the visual system of color. If you have a long wavelength (long distance between peaks), that would be perceived as red, shorter wavelengths are perceived as blue. We cannot see infared, whereas snakes can, so they use it to find warm-blooded animals at night.
