*isomorphic attribution: when what you are intending to say is what the listener perceives. Four stages of competence: unconscious incompetence: when you interact with someone from a different culture. *i. e bull ghting: spanish people see this as entertainment, matador kills 6 bulls, takes half a day. They cut off the ears, and tail and throw it at the audience. *individualist: linear, conclusion is supported through inductive or deductive reasoning. *collectivist: beating around the bush (don"t want to overtly con ict with someone) Eye contact: in our culture, we maintain eye contact when speaking, in other cultures maintained eye contact could be seen as a challenge. *high level of eye contact: arabs, latin american and southern europeans. *low level of eye contact: asians, indians and northern europe. Touching: parts of body being touched is culturally determined as well as how much we touch another person. *in thai culture you do not touch the head of a child, especially a religious child.
