Has 5 purposes: specifying direction, motivational force, organizing action, framework for action, basis for developing norms and structures, define, communicate, encourage an appealing future, influence commitment, ensure vision is shared, translate visions into reality. Mission: what you do, how it sees its purpose or task, more short term. Based on your vision of the future and the core values your organization is based on. To create a balance among competing stakeholders. To refocus an organization during a crisis. Need to be able to communicate and create this shared purpose. Provide meaning, guidance and inspiration to their followers. Values: what you stand for, principles or standards that are considered to be beneficial, allow us to evaluate aspects of our existence.
