Provincial court of appeal reverses the acquittal: court enters a conviction, instead of a new trial, trial judges sentence him to 18 months. Morgentaler is convicted and sentenced to prison in 1974. Morgentaler emergencies : violated section 251 of the criminal code civil disobedience. Quebec jury finds morgentaler not guilty in 1975: morgentaler already in prison.
