Israeli control of key roads and of checkpoints between cities/ones. Palestinian frustration due to: continued expansion of israeli settlements, no continuous palestinian territory; fragmentation, recovery of land very slow, no improvement to economy. Israelis frustrated by: violence of hamas; accused of being unwilling, and unable. Hamas violence and whenever hamas did get put in jail, they were often out very quickly. Pa not clamp down on anti-israeli incitement in media: continued referral to israel as the enemy in education system, hamas wants all of palestine and wants to liberated from israel. Was much more violent than the first intifadah. The israelis build a security wall to keep palestinian extremist out of israel. The wall is hugely controversial, it dramatically decreased the suicide bombings, but it stops. They cannot go into israel for work or move freely. It is seen almost as a large prison .
