Phil 2120 unit 5 ethical egoism october 16, 2016. Peoples common sense often tells them to consider others in our actions: because the things we do can affect them, ethical egoism says the opposite. We should all concern about ourselves and nothing more people may matter to us but only if they are beneficial to us. I feel for the most part this argument is sound, however, there is mention at the end we are more likely to do harm than good to which i disagree. There is also no reason to believe we would do harm to those we are trying to help. One may feel degraded about being the object of charity: if everyone looks out for his or her own interests, everyone will be better off . By drawing ties to treat others the way you want to be treated .
