Women found themselves double-burdened in ww2 because now they had house work (keeping their homes "lovely", family raising (child care), and now working in the workforce to make ends meet while their husbands and the men were away. Thus, by the end of the war, returning home and leaving the workplace wasn"t all too negative an option for most women. Enormous emphasis on getting married young and setting one"s life up immediately following the war. Ideal age placed at 20-25 (for women) by experts. If a woman was still unmarried by age 23, women were warned that they should begin worrying that "mr. Women were expected to keep the relationship on track. While men were expected to earn all the income for the family and set a good example for their children. Single people were questioned and thought to be socially deficient. Exploring sexual desires away from home and home communities resulted in the formation of gay and lesbian communities.
