If a woman was still unmarried by age 23, women were warned that they should begin worrying that "mr. Women were expected to keep the relationship on track. While men were expected to earn all the income for the family and set a good example for their children. Single people were questioned and thought to be socially deficient. Exploring sexual desires away from home and home communities resulted in the formation of gay and lesbian communities.
