Document Summary

Some canadian families have to deal with extra baseline stress. Stress, conflict and abuse: lgbtq, colored people. Conflict is an expressed struggle between at least 2 interdependent parties who perceive incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from others in achieving their goals. People who aren"t dependent upon each other no special interest in what the other does don"t have conflicts. Mutual activity: decide to be interdependent or independent agents. Move back and fourth, need to find balance. Seen as incompatible because we want the same thing or we want different things. Resources could be any positively perceived physical, economic, or social consequence. 2 resources are perceived as scarce in relationships: power, self-esteem. Person doing the blocking is seen as the problem. Two people can have different memories of an event. Begins with different perception = difference in encoding. People can remember what they did, but not what the other did.
