Couvade: experience similar biological and psychological symptoms. Approx of mothers will experience psychical symptoms: Incision, delivery healing, painful breasts and urination, sore nipples. Early sign: high euphoria can indicate coming crash. Being involved in pregnancy, birth and care, helps develop strong bonds. Critical timing: timing embryo can stop/alter development. Gain 30/g per day for several months. Plasticity: brain can be modified and changed by environment. Additional sleep 6-17 months need 13 hrs. Touch and pain- touch is soothing and pain displays crises or stress (crying) Through amniotic fluids infants develop smell and taste. Newborns prefer smells of food their mothers ate while carrying them. 5 months: use arms and legs to move on belly. 4 months: can grab items with some effectiveness.
