Many new products introduced each year into the marketplace, but competition between products remains high and the long-term viability of most new products is not assured. Numerous products with a long track record of commercial success (e. g. oreo cookies, The success of these products can be attributed to consistent quality, marketing and promotion, and consumer confidence/loyalty. Different companies differ in their approaches to product development due to differences in corporate philosophy and management. Objective of product development is to develop a commercially viable product which originated as an idea in someone"s mind.
