Most of us are familiar with organic food; some of you probably even purchase it regularly. Most large grocery stores now carry a wide selection of organic products and there are even entire grocery store chains dedicated to organic food. In the omnivore"s dilemma pollen examines the large grocery store chain, In guelph, you may have noticed a fairly new grocery store at the bottom of gordon street called goodness me. Both of these chains are dedicated to promoting and selling organic foods. There is a growing movement of individuals with the belief that there is health, environmental, and societal benefits to be gained from consuming organic foods. Benefits of organic farming include improved plant nutrition, reduction in pesticides and improved soil health. There are several other claims associated with the benefits of organic, and it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction. When reviewing this material it is extremely important to do so with a critical eye.
