Thebans surrendered en mass (couldn(cid:835)t follow through with the glorious sacrifice as the sprtans did) Xerxes admired the sacrifice of the spartans and saw the thebans as cowards > branded all survivors branded so all greeks would know of their surrender. Fought tooth and nail to the very end. No one left to remind the world that the thespians had died. No one recognizes that the helots were there and died too. Aristodemus, eurytus and pantites (the trembler) > three survivors.
