Endocrine pharmacology (cid:314) study of drugs that alter the synthesis or action of hormones that are secreted in the body. *note: not all endocrine hormones are produced and secreted by the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. Ex: endocrine pancreas and the hormones it secretes. Unit 01 (week 1: hypothalamic-anterior pituitary hormones, adrenal axis, thyroid gland. A chemical compound that has a similar structure & chemical properties to those of another compound, but differs from it by a single element or group. Ex: antibiotic amoxicillin is an analog of penicillin. The difference of amoxicillin to penicillin is by the addition of an amino group. Is an ion, a molecule, or molecular group that binds to another chemical entity to form a larger complex. Is produced by combining of genetic material from more than one origin o source in genetic engineering, laboratory techniques used to join ribonucleic acid (rna) from different sources to produce novel rna.
