Psii and psi location: diagram is not correct for location of psii. Photosystems- physically separated: psi and atpase are in non-stacked regions of thylakoid, active psii is in stacked regions. Photosystem ii- d1 protein stress environment: ca. 15% of psii is under repair at any given time. Photosystem-lines of defence: defense from excess photons-> (cid:272)ells (cid:272)a(cid:374)"t ha(cid:374)dle too much light, chloroplasts align along cell walls to reduce light interception- can decrease light absorption. 15: shade, carotenoids, xanthophylls, convert energy to heat, convert remaining into a longer wavelength of light, fluorescence.
