Orientalism: describing the tendencies of westerners who have fetishized, mythologized and feared the cultures lands and peoples of asia and the middle east. The relationships of power in the process of looking: this is part of the production and consumption of images, visual culture is about sustaining and changing power dynamics. There are activist examples of this: we take things for granted in visual culture by being so used to seeing things over and o(cid:448)er agai(cid:374) (cid:271)(cid:455) (cid:373)aki(cid:374)g it a (cid:374)e(cid:449) (cid:374)or(cid:373). He claims that a photograph records a moment of looking, but also a moment of being looked at. It becomes a representation and a sight of multiple relations. He makes us look at a photograph differently. What he conveys in the text is meant to make us think twice about what we are seeing. In this photograph, he uses a fashion ad in the text.
