Document Summary

Protestant reformation: division of christianity took on 3 forms. Tradition is highly disputed because in britain, before and during ww1, british propaganda (highly organized) Founder of lutheranism was seen as teaching that the church has to be subordinate to the state, that it is the duty of the christians to abide the ruler reason why. Should not try to overthrow a good system without a good cause if ruler was evil, it would be okay to overthrow him. Luther supported the princes of germany to band together he is often condemned for doing this. Munster was not a good example of a ruler. Luther was keen on order, because he argued, people (lower class) are going to suffer in times of violence, while upper class would be okay. Luther thought rebellion (in any case) should be orderly. Luther believed there should be a general consensus in society that a ruler is tyrant and should go.
