Document Summary

Somatoform and dissociative disorders: somatoform disorders are quite common, although not researched. Want reassurance that they don"t have anything: care-avoiding types (paradoxical avoiding type): avoid doctors because they"re so afraid of actually having a disease (avoids confirmation). Will probably not even check google for symptoms: differs because physical complaints are non-existent or if the symptoms are present they are very mild. She will do this to receive gratification for being a good mother. Increasingly rare: socioeconomic status and rural environments might play a role, becomes a suspicion when conversion blindness occurs all of a sudden, pseudoseizures are more common than conversion disorder, trauma can be a negative, stressful occurrence. If depression is treated, dissociation will probably be treated as well. If a clinician suspected trauma, they would treat the trauma once the patient remembers the trauma: time frame of fugue/amnesia is variable; weeks are normal, but months are rare.
