With the steam engine you can now run huge factories at a faster pace and lower cost. With more factories and more factory jobs, more people move into the city centers. This is at its highest around: urban areas become populated and important. With more factories, you need more cotton, and so in 1793 eli whitney"s cotton gin was invented. 1860"s coal mining also had some industrial advancement. With bigger factories and more people, the need for transportation becomes more apparent. You begin to see more turnpikes; they connect england from one end to the other. This means you can now travel by horse and buggies a lot faster. However, the best way to move goods is through the canal system* (from the 18th-19th century).
