Document Summary

Silicates are the most frequent and diverse minerals. Silicate tetrahedron will always combine between themselves or with cations because they will have -4 charge. The nature of these bonds represent the fundament of this classification because silicates are subdivided into 6 groups. Simplest silicates because silicate terahydra are only bonded with cations. In idealized form, see silicate tetrahydra don"t share bonds. Because of simple nature, they are found very frequently. Don"t see a lot at surface of earth because it is a basic mineral and in the crust we have mostly acidic mineral. This is the main mineral in earth crust. Originally, the rocks on earth were basic but as combination between primitive minerals and the 3 supersystems at earth surface happened, rocks transformed. In the mantle, it remained isolated, olivine remained fresh and unaltered. Whenever we find this on surface, it has come from deep interior.
