Species may have higher priority if they belong to special categories: A dominant primary producer in an ecosystem both in terms of abundance and influence. If these species go, all animals depending on these species also start becoming extinct. Plays a role in its ecosystem that is analogous to the role of a keystone in an arch. Has a disproportionate effect of its environment relative to its abundance. These species are very important to the ecosystem, but not found in abundance. Depending on role (seed dispersers angiosperm coevolution theory) primates may be keystone species. Generally are species whose presence may indicate the health of the environment. More specifically, these are species whose presence indicates that some environmental condition is met. Spider monkeys are considered to be the first to leave (in bad times) and last to come back. Not a biological concept, more about marketing . Charismatic species that can help gain support from the public.
