We acquire personality and other behaviours through learning. Humans learn to a far greater extent than other animals do. So learning has a big impact on behaviour. Learning the change of behaviour as function of experience. Behaviorism: the only valid way to know about somebody is to observe the person"s behavior, causes of behavior can be observed as directly as behavior itself, because they can be found in the individual"s environment. Psychology: based on the idea of the psyche: > an attempt to get to the person"s mind & head to understand what they"re thinking. Personality researchers we focus on so far they put on a great deal of effort in trying to understand that: the unseen hidden recesses on the mind. Includes walter mischel - he wrote that whatever way you chose to do, personality is not something found in the person.
