Imitation, cooperation: understanding of an action not to some superficial aspect of it. Fire equally as robustly if watch a peanut open (and make noise) or if just hear the noise: fire to the action, regardless of how it was detected. Mirror neurons found in pp lobe: respond to purpose of the action. Respond to food if grasp food and eaten, little response if grasp food and its placed in a bowl. Same neurons respond to experimenter picking up food to eat it, but not if it was placed elsewhere and not eaten. In precentral gyrus of frontal lobe, most posterior portion of the frontal lobe, rests along central sulcus: major point of convergence of sensorimotor signals and the posterior and dorsolateral and secondary all feeding into it.
