Document Summary

Introduction [i missed writing the fucking discussion for this lab so don"t forget about that lmao] Springs are used often for a wide variety of purposes in many different types of fields. A very significant quantity that is used to calculate the force f exerted by a spring is called the spring constant k, which has dimensions of force per unit length (n/m in si units). In theory the larger the value of k, the larger the force f exerted by the spring by the same length. Hooke"s law provides the means to relate force f, the spring constant k, and the length of extension of the spring x. hooke"s law states that when an elastic object is stretched, the increased length is called its extension. The extension of an elastic object is directly proportional to the force applied to it: F = tension force (n) k = spring constant (n/m) x = change in length of spring (m)
