Document Summary
Surface anatomy : anatomical landmarks on the exterior of the body. Standing upright, facing observer, head level, eyes facing forward, feet at on the oor, feet slightly apart, arms at the sides, palms turned forward (anatomical) Lateral (structure or movement) : away from the midline. Superior : higher, above , towards the head. Inferior : lower, below , away from the head. Posterior (dorsal) : at the back of the body. Anterior (ventral) : at the front of the body. ** proximal and distal must always be used as a comparison of two points. Can describe exion / extension because as smaller or larger then 180* Inversion : sole of foot faces medially, sickle, ankles out. Eversion : sole of foot faces laterally, ankles in. Plantar exion : digging/ pointing toes to the ground. Dorsi exion : heels dig in, pointing toes to the ceiling. Lateral rotation : rotation away from the body (supination) **not all joints (ex. patella)
