A way of organizing ideas (concept maps, looking at relationships) Explains phenomenon and allows for extended research to expand understanding of phenomenon. An individual is always seen within the context of their family. This model looks for strength and potential. Family is the client cannot separate the two: family is different for everyone, not necessarily blood relatives! Health and illness are not on a continuum, they can both exist at the same time. Families/clients strive for little illness and more health.
