Document Summary
Critical review of women"s motivations for having unassisted childbirth or high-risk homebirth & Sexual and reproductive rights and the human rights agenda. The following paper will discuss the specific themes and arguments from two separate readings in regard to pregnancy, childbirth, and reproductive politics. In addition, i will discuss the broader policy implications and my own thoughts on the issues based on my current knowledge. The overreaching theme revealed from the results of the study suggest that women who chose to have unassisted homebirths were longing to take control of their birthing experience (holten & Holten and miranda (2016) concluded that more focus should be placed on negotiation between patients and health care providers in order to facilitate a patient-centered childbirth experience.
