The idea that indg people will be taken out of the societal narrative and will come back to it 100 years from now. Columbus came in 1492 and thought he was going to india so they were named indians. Because they thought they found india they transported assumptions and narratives onto the natives because they had preconceived notions of indians. We knew they weren"t indians in like a month but still call them indians today (louis c. k. explains indians) It"s never been about mending broken fences in government, it"s about furthering our discursive idea of indians. We will not walk this path. quote from the red paper: the white paper was to get rid of the indian act, but it was also getting rid of the things that natives had achieved.
