Live near others that are similar to them- same beliefs, etc: those segregated by force particularly first nations. Occurs within cities (eg. africville- city located dump beside this community) and small towns and rural areas (landfills close to first nations and black communities) Different experiences for black loyalists and refugees: segregated into their own small communities. Diverse histories for many different groups but a power differential. Procedural: related to history of racism whereby various racialized groups have little or no political power and/or influence: no/muted political voice, voices not taken into consideration, often ignored. Spatial patterns linked to limitations in political power. Sarnia"s chemical valley aamjiwnaang first nation community: several large gas/oil companies located here. Located just miles from reserve land- no control over the chemical valley be- ing put there: chemical valley (sites) located upstream of reserve.
